Yesterday, Tiger Woods announced that he would be returning to the PGA Tour during the biggest tournament of the year. This will be a media circus… but more-so on the outside. Augusta National has a reputation of being very controlling with who it allows in (fans, press, etc) — and that’s likely a major factor why Woods will be returning when — and where — he does.
While the Tiger case is an extreme one, anytime an employee is suspended or needs to take a personal leave — there are bound to be lots of questions/rumors/gossip that will float around the office.
How do you handle an employee when they come back after a personal leave or suspension? Do you throw them back in the fire? Do you allow them to address the issue with their co-workers? Do YOU address it with other employees?
